The Missing Link in Your Manifestation Practice (And How to Finally Close the Loop)
The Signal + Symbol manifestation tracking hack
For years, I carried a belief so secret I wasn’t even fully aware of it myself. It was this: If I became successful, prosperous, comfortable, I'd somehow be abandoning people who were struggling.
I never said it out loud. Never even thought it consciously. Just spurned the idea of high-earning careers, status, all of it. In retrospect, it was pretty self-righteous. Still, I had no interest in making more than just barely enough to make rent and buy food. The lifestyle of idealists, artists, and free spirits.
Until the summer of 2020.
Let me bring you back. The nation was in full-fledged pandemic mode. We were secure in our toilet paper supplies by this point, but there were still a lot of questions. People were getting laid off right and left, others were temporarily unable to work. In the midst of the chaos, a fundraiser for single moms in need of rent came my way. I really wanted to help, and I also knew that I couldn’t afford to do so. My own mother was subsidizing my child care bills, for crying out loud.
It occurred to me that I'd followed all the directions to winning at life but somehow ended up at the wrong destination. I couldn't help anyone else when I needed help myself.
I put a $50 donation on my credit card anyway. I had no idea how I was going to pay it back. Something needed to change. But how do you get from bare minimum to abundance?
Enter manifestation.
The premise is simple: set your intention, then rewire your beliefs through repetition, visualization, hypnosis, or whatever method resonates with you. Simple, maybe. Easy? No.
As it turns out, self-imposed limitation disguised as virtue can be pretty pernicious, and make for a long manifestation journey. So, how to keep track of what happens along the way? A journal or your Notes app works … if you have time to go back and connect the dots in your spare time. (Some of you definitely just laughed a tiny bit inside. Spare time is an oxymoron. A myth. A sasquatch you think you saw once.)
Tracking manifestations from desire to “It is MIIIIIIIINE,” is one of the reasons I created Signal + Symbol. I needed something to help me see patterns quickly and easily. Bonus points for being visually soothing.
Here’s how to use the app to supercharge your manifestation practice.
Before we start, do you have the Signal + Symbol app? If not, get it here (it’s free):
OK. These directions are going to make so much more sense now. Hit “Add a Star.”
1. Your Manifestation = A Desire
Begin by creating a Desire.
This isn't necessarily a specific outcome. It's the direction you're moving toward.
Buying a home with land for your family
Starting a successful creative business
Finding a fulfilling partnership
Improving your health
Creating more financial freedom
The Desire becomes the thread that connects everything else.
2. What Comes Up = Encounters
These will probably be the next stars you create.
As you move toward a goal, certain everyday events tend to stand out. Log these moments as Encounters. The goal isn't to decide immediately whether something "means" anything. The goal is simply to notice. Patterns are easier to recognize when they're written down.
Opportunities, Envy, and Disappointment? They’re All Data. (Log them as encounters.)
Not every meaningful pattern feels exciting. Sometimes an encounter triggers fear, disappointment, envy, self-doubt, or old stories. That's useful information.
You meet someone living the life you secretly want.
You find out a business idea you came up with already exists.
A house pops up on the market that feels like it was designed specifically for your family, but it’s out of your price range.
These encounters are in fact stretching your sense of what's possible. Even if that opportunity isn't available right now, it can reveal something important just by the pull it has on you. It’s something you want but, deep down, don’t believe you can have.
Instead of treating these experiences as examples of what you can't have, consider treating them as evidence of what you're becoming available for.
3. Limiting Beliefs = Friction
When you hit upon a limiting belief, add a Friction star.
For example:
You find the perfect house and immediately think:
We can't afford this.
We missed our chance.
People like us don't get homes like that.
Those reactions may be revealing a deeper pattern. They might not be the truth, but they're valuable clues. In Signal + Symbol, I log these moments as Friction. The friction isn't the problem. The friction points toward the beliefs, assumptions, or fears that may be asking for attention.
The next step is where you’ll really bring in your chosen manifestation method.
4. Track Your Desired Beliefs as Insights
Manifestation is really about re-wiring deep assumptions so that you can become the kind of person who has the life you desire. Once you’ve identified a limiting belief, fear, or assumption, you’ll work your chosen manifestation method: guided meditations, self-hypnosis, affirmations, mantras, dreamwork can all help rewire the belief pattern to one that helps you grow, rather than holding you back.
Examples:
I’m available to discover new pathways to this level.
My financial reality is allowed to evolve.
What’s meant for me doesn’t require perfect timing.
I’m learning to engage sooner and trust my instincts.
There will be more chances that meet me when I’m ready.
Whichever method you use, having the new belief clearly noted and linked to your manifestation and patterns in Signal + Symbol helps reinforce it every time you’re thinking about what you’re calling in.
The Best Tool is The One You’ll Actually Use
If you use the app this way, it doesn't just track meaningful coincidences. It helps you see the relationship between your desires, your fears, your signs, and your growth.
It’s designed to fit into the tiny moments of your day — 30 seconds here or there and you’ll start to see patterns as they form. No remembering to jot it down later, then forgetting.
Looking back, that's what I wish I'd had in 2020. A way to start recognizing the roots of my story and how it was unfurling before me.
You might be surprised by the “story behind the story” unfolding in your own life.
